First Night in Tokyo, Japan

In the evening, I went out with a girl from my hostel for some dinner. First we went to see a temple (my first in Japan), the Asakusa-jinja Temple. It was shut for the night, so we just saw it from the outside.

Then we went to a sushi-go-round restaurant, which was really good fun! Essentially, you pick plates off the carousel, each of which is colour-coded depending upon price. At the end, you add up the number of plates you had of each colour to determine the final price.

Then we went to a department store (which, as most do, sold food on the ground floor), where I discovered the fantastic concept of PLASTIC FOOD!!! Truly amazing and intricate, the plastic food depicts what you can expect to receive when you order / buy something. It is amazing and I love love love it!

I`m not too sure about the shrimps in the middle though... they look more like chicken legs to me!

Then it was back to the hostel for a few beers. Being backpackers and all, we decided to go for a cheap beer. Bad move. It was terrible - worse than Fosters! I guess you can`t really scrimp on beer... lesson learned! Jet-lag got the better of me, and I fell asleep sitting upright on the sofa in the common area. When I woke up, the room was full of people, so I skuttled off to bed, hoping that I hadn`t been dribbling!
