It's all a little bit exciting!

So... first post, and still with 3 1/2 months to go before I set off!

I'm finalising my travel route, looking at funds, telling work, family and friends, and generally getting well and truly excited!

Having applied for my New Zealand Working Holiday Visa, I've just received word that my visa request might be rejected by the NZ embassy. A few years ago, when my dad applied for his NZ residency, I was able to gain a Resident's Visa under his application, but I never actually activated it before it expired because, well, life got in the way. They now think that I'm planning on living there for good, and using my Working Holiday Visa as an entrance route! I've written a pleading letter informing them that all I want to do is travel the world, so all I can do is watch this space... it could spell the end of the dream before it's even begun! Positive thinking though - it will all be fine :)

So the things on my 'to do' list before I head off into the sunset:

Get a bar job to save some moolah!
Learn cocktail making skills for barwork whilst travelling.
Renew driving license.
Book flights to NZ (via Hong Kong?).
Sell lots of stuff on eBay.

There's obviously far more than this to do, but at least it's a starting point!

Current travel itinerary stands at:

New Zealand: 1 year (visa permitting!!)
Thailand: 2 months (will be back again)
Australia: 10 months
Fiji: 1 month
South East Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos etc): 5 more months
Total travel time: 2 1/2 years.

Who knows though... it could be shorter or longer. Oooooh, it's all so exciting!! :)

I'm not going to be making this blog public to family and friends yet, but if anyone happens to stumble across my blog and has any suggestions on where I should go, I'd love to hear them!
